Teething Sucks and Two New Tips to Help

Image
I spent this past weekend holding a teething little person who was not happy about it. I agree with his ability to be irritable and fuss because he had a fever and just wanted to be held by mommy for comfort. He was still a trooper trying to play then deciding he wasn't having it. He gave a few little smiles but wasn't his happy normal self. Even though I had been through it once before this weekend reminded me that I hated teething and it sucks. I couldn't remember any of the tricks or tips when I went through it the first time but cool baths, ice, cold face cloth in the freezer, and Tylenol. I barely remembered that! Cool baths and Tylenol was the only thing I could remember when his temperature had gotten so high. My husband and I don't care to give the medication unless necessary. So, of course I got some inspiring ideas for teething once the fever broke but, I just had to share them. My sister tagged me in a post on Instagram showing a little cutie sucking on a...

Mommy Corner Monday: Enjoy Being a Mommy

Image
Today for this post I am talking to the mommies to be and the recent new mommies. All I have heard since the birth of my first son was “I know you can't wait to have your baby so you can get your body back”. And two years later it is still the same thing, “I know you can't want to have your body and to get a snap back.” How can I worry about what my body looks like at a time like this?!?! Your focus should be on the baby. Not about when you're going to get back into the gym to get back the figure you had pre baby. You should take the time to enjoy this gift that you received the joy of a new life that you created. My advice to the new mommies out there is to enjoy this time with your new baby. Enjoy bonding with your baby, enjoy getting to know your baby, just enjoy your baby, just enjoy being a mommy, enjoy and relish in the fact that your body just gave birth to a new life. Don't just rush back into the gym until your six week check up and you are cleared by y...

Mommy Corner Monday: A Stay at Home Worth

Today I saw a video circulating on Facebook talking about stay at home moms. It was fascinating to hear that their net worth is $140,000 a year and we don't even get paid for it! All the jobs that stay at home moms do is basically for free but if it was outsourced that would be the going rate. It's crazy to think but at the end of the day like always we are doing what's best for our family. Another stat that was nice to hear was that 60% believe that having a parent at home is best for their child and/or children. Which, I believe is great in a world of go go go, long hours, and most of your time is dedicated to a job leaving little time for family life. My husband and I had a conversation stating that the value on family is lost. By staying at home it does just that by putting the focus on where it needs to be... family. Even if you cannot afford it it's always nice to have a family member you trust to watch your children. Parent is always best but a family member is...

Holiday Mindfulness

Image
Hey with the holidays upon us please be mindful of your kids especially the little ones. Everyone is so excited to see the newest editions. Just cause the family may be excited doesn't mean your little one is. It's ok to want to hold your baby while he or she is fussy. Do so cause your baby is crying for you to come and get them. Saying I need a break and bring me some comfort. New sights, sounds, and people can be too much for small children and babies. Sometimes, I arrive late and leave early with my little ones not to over simulate them. And when they get too fussy I go to a quiet place to disconnect and refocus that energy whether it's for a feeding, mental break, or a nap. Once, I know they are ok and have been recharged we return to the festivities. Hopefully, these tips can you for the holiday season. Seasons greetings everyone!  This post has been updated to add the video for your viewing pleasure.

Bikinis, Stretch Marks, and Baby Gut

As I prepare for vacation, I am trying to figure out what the heck I'm going to wear. You would think it would be simple for warm weather. It would be if we stayed in a warm climate where you can find swim suits and shorts all year around not a 2 to 4 season (if you stay in Michigan you understand that season thing). Plus, on top of that I just had a baby and I really need to figure out what I can actually fit! I went an pulled some stuff today and maybe I'll try it on tomorrow if there is time. It is official that we leave in a week and that I an underwire. But, I'm not worried as much as I thought I would be. While most women are trying to cover up due to the fact that some of your stuff still isn't back to where it was prior to your little ones arrival. I am proud of myself for this simple fact I'm not covering up shit! Why cause it's vacation!?!?! My body has never truly been where I wanted it to be. It's always been a work in process and when I got cl...

Mommy Corner Monday: Incorporate the Kiddos

Welcome back for this edition of Mommy Corner Monday. I wanted to talk about incorporating the kids in daily things you have to do around the house. I even incorporate my son in the errands! Hopefully, these tips can help you in your daily life with your kiddos! I had some issues lately when I go into the kitchen. My 1 year old would come into the kitchen and try to get out of the kitchen whenever I was in there for too long. The only time he would be ok was if I was getting him something to drink. He didn't like me going into the kitchen because that meant I was going to be in there for a long period of time either it was to clean or cook. That meant me being there takes away time from with him whether it was playing, reading a book, watching tv, or just plain mommy time. I decided to incorporate him in my daily activities that just needed to get done either he wanted me or I wanted to do them or not. I had him help me cook dinner. When he came in the kitchen like he normal do...

Mommy Corner Monday: Halloween Edition

Welcome to this edition of Mommy Corner Monday! Happy Halloween! Here's some tips to have fun and be safe while out with the kiddos trick or treating tonight! Dress the kids for the weather. If you don't check the weather any other day please do so today. You wouldn't want your babies out there in cold without proper clothing. Don't forget to check the kids candy. Check all pieces of candy before letting your child eat it to make sure it wasn't tampered with by anyone. Don't eat any candy that has been opened or altered. Any candy that looks like it has been altered or opened please throw it away. Safety first! Remember curfews are in effect so if you're sending your kids out make sure they are with a legal responsible adult. The curfew for minors without an adult is 6 pm so if you're not accompanied by a legal adult you can be picked up by the police and/or fined. When walking door to door be mindful of your surroundings: You never know what m...

Failed Mommy Moment

Image
I went to the grocery store with my kids the other day. I get out of the truck, get a cart and proceed to put my kids in the cart. We are starting to make our way into the grocery store and I see this lady with her cart by her car taking her baby out of the car seat. I don't think anything of it and proceed into the grocery store. While in the produce section I'm getting fruits and vegetables and I'm in my head about what else I need to be getting before I move on to the next section of the store. Something tells me to turn around. I look and see the lady from the parking lot with her baby has laid her baby in the cart with nothing but a blanket on her. This baby is a new baby at that! My son is 3 months old and this baby looked like she was about a good month old. I just look and think to myself I can't believe she just has that baby in the cart like that. I don't say anything and proceed to the next section of the store. I know some of you are saying, "So y...
