What I Learned About Myself in My Yoga Practice

I've been doing yoga. I like to consider myself a yoga novice. I’ve a yoga to say the least I follow all types of yoga stuff on social media. I love it because it helps my mind, body, and spirit. It's a full body workout. Yoga always seems to teach me something about myself. Today it taught me to be patient with myself. I don't expect to do any of these moves out the gate. But, it's allowing me to be learn this new body I'm in. I was watching everyone around me do a move and I was trying to understand how to do it. So, I asked the instructor after class about the move. This is why I love the place I go she broke it down to me on how to do the move. She did tell me over time I would get stronger and be able to lift myself. When this particular move was introduced to me I was pregnant so I couldn't even participate in learning the move. Just like last week, I asked one of my other instructors about my side plank. I was able to do it before I was pregnant and d...

Small Minded People and Pregnancy

I am tired of dealing with people that have silly/small mindsets and treat pregnancy as a disease or a “plot/ploy” There is nothing to laugh at about the female reproductive system and body. Just because someone experiences the joy of an enjoyable experience and a baby is made as a result of that. It's sad to think someone would take something so beautiful as creation of a new life and make it so negative. There is no room to judge anyone's situation because you may never know that persons situation. It could be someone struggled with the fact of getting pregnant, or became pregnant and was unable to keep it. Being pregnant is no laughing matter or anything to take lightly because you are growing a human being. I don't like the fact that people can think that they can say whatever they want to a pregnant woman or judge a pregnant woman. That is not right or fair. It's like you're punishing this woman for deciding to carry a new life. No one should be subject to ridi...

Mommy Corner Mondy: Managing Back Pain for Mommy to be

Image
Today for this Mommy Corner Monday I am talking about managing back pain for mommy to be. Carrying baby is hard work and isn't always easy. But, I hope these tips can help relieve some back pain that you may be helping. Like always please consult your doctor before starting a workout regimen. There were 2 ways I managed my back pain when I was pregnant. The first one was the tennis ball method. One of the nurses from the hospital I delivered at taught me that at a class I took prior to delivery. You take two tennis balls put them in a sock and rub them on the sore and tight areas on our back. You can do it yourself, or have your partner do it, or if you're by yourself and you can't reach you can go big bear style on the wall. I even used this method during labor when labor pains got bad. I didn't use any medicine for my pain management with both my boys. The other way I managed my back pain was doing yoga. Two positions that I found that worked wonders that I coul...

Body... Lately...

So, lately I've been wondering and I'm not sure if you would call it worrying but wondering about my body image. I literally told my husband yesterday that I can not believe I've had two babies in the past two years. It's funny how you can ask a question and the universe will bring you the answer. I found it funny that a mutual friend sent me pictures of myself when I turned 30. First, I rolled my eyes because I'm thinking it's another ploy to get me out to work out. Then again maybe it isn't but we've been down the hey girl why don't you come workout road too many times to count. She means well in a sense she wants me to get my body “back” to the days of no kids but her approach is always wrong. I looked at those pictures today and laughed because if this was what she thought my body back was little did she know that I wasn't where I wanted to be but I was working on it then I got pregnant with my first child. After having him I literally ...
