Amsterdam 2017

We arrived in Brussels, Belgium where we were to catch a train and ride for two hours to Amsterdam. The train station had a stop in the airport so all we had to do was downstairs to get on the train. We made it to the train station in enough time but had just missed the 12:15 pm train. The next train was to arrive at 1:15 pm while waiting in the station looking at the kiosk it all of sudden showed cancelled. Cancelled... What how can the train be cancelled? The train for Amsterdam had been cancelled. We decided we would wait for the next one and sitting there in the train station the 1:15 showed cancelled as well. I was beginning to wonder were we ever going to make it to Amsterdam? Sly went an talked to a worker that wasn't very helpful by his unhelpfulness caused us to almost have to leave the station to get some help. Luckily, we were able to find someone that was able to help us. They directed us in the way of getting us to Amsterdam and we couldn't be happier.

We arrive in Amsterdam after a full day’s worth of travel, by plane and 2 trains later making it there in the late afternoon. We get off the train and it’s people everywhere! It’s busy and bustling there is street cars everywhere, people are walking, biking, and cars speedily moving by and it’s really cool to see. So, we cross the street to find our hotel and walk past it cause we were on the other side of the street. There is just bikes parked on the side walk as far you can see. I have never seen anything like in my life and it’s pretty amazing. We finally get into our room I need to pump and once I’m done with that I know we can finally start to sightsee. That didn’t work out so well but that’s a story for another post for now we will talk about Amsterdam.

By the time we are finally time to get out it’s time for dinner but, we don’t want to sit and eat want to grab something and go. There is this fries place that the line is just off the chain, Mannekenpis Verse Vlaamse Friet, Sly suggests we try that place because when we walked past is earlier the line was even longer than what we were looking at. They give you fries in a cone, with a topping of your choice and a little wooden stick to eat them with. So, we get the basic fries and cheese not bad and we keep moving to seeing what else the city has to offer. We walked around looking at shops and other food places to walk past the Sex Museum. We walked in paid the $5 entry and walk around an you get to see icons that were famous for sex like Marilyn Monroe, Josephine Baker, and Mata Hari. It’s broken up in about 3-4 floors and you walk though and sex through time. It had displays, statues, photos, paintings, audio, and some video about sex. It had a really nice layout to follow as you walk through sexual time. I definitely recommend that’s a place you go an visit when you’re in Amsterdam.

Our next day and full day in Amsterdam, we did a boat ride through the channels of Amsterdam. I was torn at first on what boat we should take because there was a bigger boat with a glass enclosure and a smaller boat that wasn’t enclosed at all, another boat that had a glass enclosure where you can drink and snack while you tour the city. I wanted to do the enclosure just due to the coolest looking of the boat and the warm because it was chilly on the water. The smaller boat costed a little more but you got about 15 more mins on the tour then the others. We ultimately chose the smaller boat and I was thankful we did. We got amazing photos because we wasn’t enclosed in the glass. We got a more personal tour and we were able to see more parts of Amsterdam because the smaller boat was able to get into areas the other boats were not able to. Our guide and captain was very knowledge and she squeezed that boat into spots so tight that you could reach your hand out to touch the bridge! The weather turned out not to be a factor because she provided blankets to wrap up in while you were on the tour. It was really nice and we got to see parts of the city like the place were babies use to be delivered back in the day, how people got around the city when no one could read, and how people move their things when you move out of a house. The stairs in the house are too steep and it’s hard to move stuff. Every house has a hook on the top of the house. They rent a wheel and move stuff from out of the window. Our tour guide stated that the first thing up the wheel is a case of beer and when you’re done move the last thing you hoist down is the empty case of beer. Other things we got to see were the university, zoo, municipal buildings, lock bridge for love, and house boats. We got to see the oldest house boat and it’s still standing well floating and someone still lives in it. Our tour guide stated that a house boat made out of concrete can stay for 15 years before needing maintenance and a house boat with a metal bottom can stay for 3-4 years. She said when it's time for maintenance your boat is taking to place and they hook up a ladder so you can get in and out as needed because the whole process can take up to about 3 weeks.

After the boat tour we walk around and do some more sight seeing, little shopping, another stop at that fry place and off to find dinner. By, night we go to Red Light District which I was happy to see in person only to be disappointed. I was like where the hell are the girls? The more we walked around we started to seem them then it made me happy. Some girls had windows others had doors. There is one rule in the Red Light District, NO video or photos are to be taken. So, sorry guys no pictures to show here. It turned out to be fun walking around and watching the guys push there friend to a girls door say she wants you like high schoolers. There was this one place that we walked past and every time we walked past the line grew. We didn't understand what the deal was with that place until later on, it has 4 live sex shows and 7 strip teases. Tickets were pricey and you needed to get there early if you wanted to see the show. No thanks, I'll keep my money. I had more fun people watching than anything. We ended our night going to a hookah bar.

The one thing I can tell you is that they love fries, steak, and burgers! That's all we came across walking looking for a meal. That sex, and weed! We had a good time in Amsterdam and it is definitely a place we would love to go back to.

Until next time loves!
