Mommy Corner Monday: Halloween Edition

Welcome to this edition of Mommy Corner Monday! Happy Halloween! Here's some tips to have fun and be safe while out with the kiddos trick or treating tonight! Dress the kids for the weather. If you don't check the weather any other day please do so today. You wouldn't want your babies out there in cold without proper clothing. Don't forget to check the kids candy. Check all pieces of candy before letting your child eat it to make sure it wasn't tampered with by anyone. Don't eat any candy that has been opened or altered. Any candy that looks like it has been altered or opened please throw it away. Safety first! Remember curfews are in effect so if you're sending your kids out make sure they are with a legal responsible adult. The curfew for minors without an adult is 6 pm so if you're not accompanied by a legal adult you can be picked up by the police and/or fined. When walking door to door be mindful of your surroundings: You never know what m

You Might Want to Change Your Deodorant or Detox

With this month being breast cancer awareness month I found something that I thought I should share. I read this article on  blackdoctor.org  stating that the aluminum in deodorant can cause breast cancer among other ingredients that are in our deodorants. Your skin is the largest organ of your body and we need to be just as much aware what we are putting on our body just like how we pay attention to what we are putting into them. The article gave a nifty detox for your under arms with four simple ingredients: Organic Apple Cider Vinegar- 1 Tablespoon Rosemary Essential oil- 3 drops Cilantro Essential oil- 5 drops 1 tablespoon bentonite clay When you mix the mixture together is should have a consistency of yogurt. Apply it under your arm, leave for a few minutes, and then wipe off. If you decide to continue using your current deodorant do this detox once a week. Normally, our bodies can filter out bad stuff like aluminum but it's through our sweat glands. With the swea

Not Making You Feel Pretty: Do You Agree?

Image
I'm trying to put the baby done for a nap with in hopes to get some sleep myself and I get a text from my husband, "Someone told me that I am not making you feel pretty. Do you agree?" I'm thinking to myself no but a girl wouldn't mind some flowers every now and again. I respond to the message "No" still rocking the baby. Then, I get to thinking where is this coming from it can't be because of my challenge. So, I send a message back "Why did they say that?" He stated "because of my challenge. They said you are seeking attention that I am not giving you." Let me point out of the whole point of this challenge is for self love self beauty. To see the beauty within myself. Not for anyone else for me to see, recognize, and realized the beauty in myself. I sat there and got to thinking about it a little longer and then the whole comment pissed me off. It pissed me off for a few reasons. One that you would think I would do this to seek

Beauty Edition Beauty Files: My Hair! Colorful Box Braids Update

I just wanted to do an update on the colorful box braids that I had done. I just took them out and I wanted to tell you about them. I had the braids in for a month and a half. The hair wore pretty well I took the braids out because my hair was getting to long with new growth and started to look frizzy but the actual braids still looked really good like the first day I put them in. You know my hair can't hold a style long! The color didn't fade or change colors. The type of hair I used was by the makers of Expressions! Sensationnel African Collection Color Braid in colors T1B/Lavender and T1B/Pastel Pink. The take down process took an hour. Better than the time it took me to put them in. And the hair did not tangle while taking the braids out. Sounds like the claim to the fame of tangle free did work! I will definitely use this hair again. I loved the color and they turned out amazing! I am already eyeing another color! Now, off to deep condition! Later loves!

Failed Mommy Moment

I went to the grocery store with my kids the other day. I get out of the truck, get a cart and proceed to put my kids in the cart. We are starting to make our way into the grocery store and I see this lady with her cart by her car taking her baby out of the car seat. I don't think anything of it and proceed into the grocery store. While in the produce section I'm getting fruits and vegetables and I'm in my head about what else I need to be getting before I move on to the next section of the store. Something tells me to turn around. I look and see the lady from the parking lot with her baby has laid her baby in the cart with nothing but a blanket on her. This baby is a new baby at that! My son is 3 months old and this baby looked like she was about a good month old. I just look and think to myself I can't believe she just has that baby in the cart like that. I don't say anything and proceed to the next section of the store. I know some of you are saying, "So y

Challenges: Hello Beautiful Hello Gorgeous

It has always been stated that the true definition of beauty is in the eye of the beholder. One would have to deem themselves as beautiful when they look in the mirror which could can be hard now a days due to the beauty industry and social media. Everyone is a Instagram model these days covered with filters and angles to have them looking their best at all times. I can appreciate model Aisha Thalia because she posts the beauty of herself, the not so beautiful and the "angles" used by some to achieve the beauty and hide the imperfections that keeps them flawless all the time. What is the definition of beauty? According to Merriam-Webster beauty is the quality of being physically attractive, the qualities in a person or a thing that give pleasure to the senses or the mind, a beautiful woman. I thought they had a fucked up definition of what beauty was so I went to my go to Dictionary.com. Dictionary.com states the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense

I wish we had YouTube when I was a teenager with all the tutorials showing you how to do hair. I believe my life would have been different! Probably not but one can dream! Well, we had YouTube but I didn't know the benefits of it then I thought it was just for music videos. If you read my Hair Life and Journey in one of my prior posts you will now understand my excitement about my hair. There will be more post about my hair and hopefully even some tutorials at some point. The type of hair I have is a super soft, fine, 3C/4A curl hair type. And not everyone knows how work with that type of hair. I started braiding my own hair because it's cheaper to do it myself, it always falls out when the Africans do it, and plus I really want to know how to do hair. The type of hair I used is from the makers of Expressions! it's called Sensationnel African Collection Color Braid. The packages states it's 100% premium fiber and flame retardant. It's supposed to be hot water set

Beauty Edition Beauty Files: My Nails

If you know me then you know I like my nails done whether it's polish, acrylics, stones, or designs! And I'm known to keep dem nails done! Well, since the birth of my son I haven't been keeping them up like I use to. I soaked off my acrylics and been giving my nails a breather. You gotta do that from time to time! So, yesterday I decided to polish my nails while the boys took a nap. Well, let's see how long this last since I messed up 3 nails and hadn't even made it out of the bathroom yet! So, not only am I giving my nails time to breathe I also took the acrylics off to learn how to braid. I can do ponytail braids but I want to learn how to french braid (which is sloppy) and get crisper and cleaner braids while braiding. I figured it would be easier for me to learn and grip the hair better with shorter nails. I'm bout to learn me how to braid to do me some sew ins! Lol! I'm about to be a braiding and sew in G! Well, one can only hope! Also, I'm taki
