Glass Microwave Lids: Should That Be the Next Move?
Hey girl hey,
Should I make a wishlist of the things I would like to change or
upgrade in my current or even future kitchen. Let your girl know and I’ll get on
it! You never know it may help you in the future. 😉
I was looking at the lid in
my dining room sitting on top of my microwave and with all this information
coming out about plastics and microplastics alike had me thinking what should I
update my microwave cover to? Not saying the first thing to do is consume but
research and know your options.
Of course I made a stop at Amazon to see what
they had available so I can have a better idea of how much a new lid would cost.
I am thinking if I would replace the microwave lid it would be with a glass one.
Here are my reasons: Knowing that it’ll help our overall health; glass is a lot
easier to clean than plastic. Sometimes with plastic lids food can get stuck,
other issues with cleanliness of the lid overall with staining and not coming
completely clean or looking completely clean when it is actually clean and
hanging on to food odors. It would cut back on the worry about excessive
exposure to plastics and microplastics since the lid is glass. Let’s be honest
when was the last time I upgraded that microwave lid? You know we are deserving
of something better at this point.
I was unaware about the amount of microwave
lids available on there. Things that I am keeping in mind is the cost, style,
and usability/durability. Also, I am going to compare it to 3 different glass
lids. Here is what I found and narrowed it down to:

This is a little
bold one right out of the gate because I wouldn’t make it my number one but it
would make it to the list seeing how it’s a glass and silicone microwave lid.
This one in particular can go up in size spanning to 3 inches and it can
compressed down to a smaller size for a smaller plate and or bowl. I like the
versatility with this one however I’m still not completely sure on this one
based on the silicone aspect. I would have to check the wear on silicone over
time. I am still going to add it to the list.
This one right out of
the gate I like because not only is it’s cute it’s practical. The lid gives me
globe/dome vibes think terrianum. I like the idea of a glass knob and the entire
lid being completely glass and it gives a peace of mind of 0% chance of a
microplastics or plastics being anywhere in there. However, I am unsure how hot
that knob would be after taking it directly out of the microwave.

I like this
one lastly because it has handles on the sides which looks very helpful when you
need to add the lid or remove it to get to your food. It makes me wonder would
the side handles be easier for smaller hands?
I gave 3 completely different options and styles. Which one did would you choose? Have you considered cutting back on microplastics and plastics alike? Have you upgraded your microwave lid? Or have you tried any of these lids? And which one do you think I would ultimately choose out of the 3 lids mentioned? I would love to know and keep the conversation going in the comment section.
